A painter and printmaker based in South Devon, Hilary Soper's work is rooted in a life-long involvement with sea and coast, home and garden, with many diversions to far-flung corners of the world, including Antarctica.
Dynamic colour and vigorous brushwork in the paintings, mainly oils, is matched by a similar approach to original prints. Images are usually liberated from reality to match a particular mood. After work in higher education, TV research and the world of wildlife cruising, the first-love of painting has become the major workforce - spurred on by regular exhibitions and the company of artists.
